Friday Fave Five

I missed all the fun last week, so I am eager to jump in on my Friday Fave Five for this week.

This week favorites included;

Yard Sales, Yes, spring and yard sales just go together.  The Inventor and I went out early  Sat. morning for yard sale bargains, fun, adventure and a stop at our fav coffee/bagel shop when we are done. I got a nice dish set, that I really needed for $4!

The Inventor is enduring her first year of track.  She has had numerous injuries and set backs, but FINALLY got to run 2 races this past week and was healthy for both of them! 🙂

Also SportTman has had a lot of success on the mound for his team this year.  I just love watching him play baseball. Even if I am freezing and have to pee!!!  I wouldn’t trade it!

With the arrival of spring, my classroom set up our own greenhouse.  We planted a ton of seeds last week and it has brought a lot of excitement to my classroom to watch the seeds start to sprout!

Whoppie Pies!  Do you know what these delicious little treasures are?  They are not a pie, but a cookie.  Oh I and love them! I have been doing extra time at the gym lately just so I can devour a few of these gems this week!!!!

Dear Jesus and Dark Choc,

Yes I know I have been so busy, if you were checking in with me at Facebook and Twitter you would see that.  I’m sorry.  Look, tomorrow we can hang out and spend time together.  And remember………summer vacation is 38 DAYS AWAY!!!  You know you and I are tight all summer long!!!  See you Friday!

Love always,

Sandy

Gone Fishin’

Fishing season around here is quite popular.  I always thought fishing was a dumb sport, never sure how it qualified as a “sport” in the first place.

You sit in a comfy chair, throw some string in the water and WAIT.  Not too tough!

Then this weekend it hit me!!!  As I drove by a stream and noticed mostly men out fishing.

I decided I AM GOING TO START FISHING!!!

Think about it ladies………

You sit in a comfy chair

Work on your tan

Chat with friends

Throw some string in the water for awhile and just let it sit there

And you get to sit more and WAIT.

Just sit and WAIT.  Chat with friends some more….maybe bring a little coffee along

Sit and chat some more, wait

Work on the tan

Drink some coffee

OMGosh I have been so foolish for missing this opportunity for so long!

Do you hear me ladies, this is our opportunity for fellowship a  chance to get out of the house.  Don’t people fish for hours!?

Fishing is suddenly looking so much more appealing to me.

Who knows I may leave behind the laundry, cooking and yard work next weekend and Go Fishing!

Won’t you join me! 🙂

Friday Fave Five

This week soared by and the trees are budding, the birds are singing and the flowers blooming.

We have all been relishing the record high warm temps, and making every opportunity to get outside!

One fave this week included a 8 mile bike ride in the country with hubs.  It was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed being able to ride together.

Another favorite is grilling.  Yes I grill through the winter, but it is so nice to now sit on the deck and relax while grilling.  And not freeze, and have to wear gloves!

I made these scrumptious grilled ham steaks for Easter.  I grew up eating this yummy ham treat, and now love to make them for my family

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 3 bone-in fully cooked ham steaks (1 pound each and 3/8 inch thick)

Directions

  • In a small bowl, combine the first seven ingredients. Pour 1-1/2 cups into a large resealable plastic bag; add ham steaks. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade for basting.
  • Coat grill rack with cooking spray before starting the grill. Drain and discard marinade. Grill ham steaks, covered, over medium heat for 10-15 minutes or until heated through, basting frequently with reserved marinade. Yield: 12 servings.

Also I had a good laugh when I came home the other day to find that my dear DAUGHTER and her friend had caught this little friend!

My last fave is this cool fire pot I purchased for enjoying while sitting on the deck.  I didn’t really know what is was when I got it, but it looked cool!  Fire comes out of the center of a ceramic pot.  You simply pour a citronella gel into the center of the pot, light on fire…..and you have a nice flame!  It’s actually quite relaxing to watch it on a nice night on the deck!

Friday Fave Five

Well spring is blooming and I do relish it!  Spring, makes one of favorites this week!!  I enjoy watching the flowers emerge from the winter soil in our woods each spring.  It’s so relaxing for me to just soak in the beauty of God’s creation in the woods behind my house!

With spring arriving that is also means the start of baseball season.  I have become such a fan of the game over the years and watching SportTman play is always exciting!

I have been so into eating those Greek CREAMY yogurts for over a month now.  They are more expensive, but full of protein and other good stuff, it’s worth it for me!  And did I mention they are so delicious!!!!!!!

iTunes makes my favorite list this week.  I have an iPod that I take with me when I work out.  This week I wasn’t real motivated to head to the gym  But downloaded a few new tunes from iTunes ( by David Crowder and Kutless), and suddenly the workout was more enjoyable since I had great music to listen to!

Good Friday today, well it’s good since I don’t have school today!  But more important, it’s a wonderful reminder to me of the pain, & suffering Jesus went through for me.  Sometimes as a mom, I try to fix my kids difficulties and pains.  But ultimately it is Jesus they need to cling to.  He understands pain and suffering, He is the great healer.  And today the reminder of that promise is one of my favorites! 🙂

Happy Easter dear friends!
